Breast Uplift (Mastopexy) Surgery

Mastopexy (Breast Uplift) is a procedure designed to lift and reposition the breasts on the chest wall. It can be performed on its own or in combination with either removal of breast tissue in the form of a Breast Reduction, or with breast implants in the form of Augmentation Mastopexy.

Over time, and often following pregnancy, the breasts can lose volume and fall on the chest wall. This results in a hollowed-out look to the breasts, particularly in the upper half. Sometimes this can be corrected by a simple Breast Enlargement, but if the breasts are too low on the chest, a Mastopexy procedure will be required.

There are a number of methods of mastopexy but in the most common, an incision is made around the nipple and vertically below it, and along the breast fold. This allows the breast tissue to be lifted and reshaped.

After the operation your breasts will initially be slightly uncomfortable but should not be too painful – this operation can sometimes be performed as a day case. More often, you will be discharged the next day after removal of your drains.
